บทคัดย่อ

ภาพล้อและการ์ตูนการเมืองในสังคมไทย ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2465 ปลายรัชสมัยรัชกาลที่ 6 ต่อเนื่องกับรัชกาลที่ 7 ซึ่งนับเป็นยุคแรกๆที่มีการตีพิมพ์ภาพล้อและการ์ตูนการเมืองรวมถึงบทความวิจารณ์การเมืองในหนังสือพิมพ์ไทย โดยจำกัดเฉพาะเรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง เพื่อแสวงหาความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับปัญหาทางการเมืองเศรษฐกิจ สังคม วัฒนธรรม และความขัดแย้งทางความคิดระหว่างผู้ปกครองกับปัญญาชน ผ่านภาพล้อและการ์ตูนการเมืองในหนังสือพิมพ์บางกอกการเมืองและสยามรีวิวรายสัปดาห์ และในช่วง 10 ปีก่อนการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง พ.ศ. 2465 ภาพล้อและการ์ตูนการเมืองถูกตีพิมพ์ในหนังสือพิมพ์อย่างหลายหลากและต่อเนื่อง ภาพล้อและการ์ตูนการเมืองจึงได้เป็นตัวแทนของการแสดงความคิดเห็นทางการเมืองของประชาชนในลักษณะการยกประเด็นและจุดประกายการถกเถียงทางการเมืองเศรษฐกิจและสังคมโดยการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์ผู้ปกครอง เปิดโปงการทุจริตของขุนนาง ข้าราชการ และเรียกร้องการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมืองอย่างชัดเจน อันเป็นที่มาของการตราพระราชบัญญัติควบคุมหนังสือพิมพ์ พ.ศ. 2465

They claimed to represent public opinion by raising political, economic and social issues so as to catalyze public discussion. They did so by satirically criticizing the rulers, exposing. Uncovering corruption and also demanding political change, explicitly purity and boldly. They thus partly prompted the Act press to be proclaimed in to Law the Press control Act 1922.
